I've tried dozens of notebooks over the years, and the best journals for writing are the ones that make you want to fill every page. My go-to is a thick, unlined leather-bound journal with creamy 120gsm paper that handles fountain pen ink without bleeding. The key is finding something with a flexible cover, smooth pages that don't catch, and a ribbon bookmark—simple, sturdy, and impossible to put down.
